Goddess Risque – TSQ 14

Goddess Risque talks about her views on women. A woman has to be stronger than her man, like the game of chess, the queen protects her king. The true power of a woman lies in her femininity, all she has to do is to listen to her heart to release the Goddess within.

Risque VS Cheryl – The Conflict

Ruthless Risque – Power, Lust and Desire – TSQ 12

Innocent Cheryl – A World Without Money – TSQ 11

At this point of the series, it is pretty clear what Risque and Cheryl represent.

Corrupt Ruthless Risque in The Office

Risque is the new age modern woman, who pursues a career, becomes corrupt and power hungry, in pursuit of the dollar sign in the material world. She climbs the corporate ladder using her charms, and tries to get her way using her art of seduction, with her quirky business proposals.

Cheryl is the old fashioned traditional woman, who likes domestic activities, a simply happy life, with children, she has a nurturing soul. She believes that we should not try to get too much things in life, money corrupts, so the world should not have money. She believes in equality and sharing the world’s resources, so that everyone can be happy.

At two extreme ends of the spectrum, how do they reconcile their differences?

Basically, Cheryl and Risque are representative of what modern women today, feel about their own roles as a woman. I designed the characters based on a module I took in university while in Australia – Gender Studies. The woman in the 1950s, and in 2050, is a world apart.

My grandmother had a chance to go to university, after completing her A levels. She instead, decided to not pursue her studies, but to support my grandfather university tuition fees by working. They had met and dated in junior college. During her time, having an A levels certificate was an overkill. If she went on to university, she could probably forget about marriage. Hence, she took a step back, for love. I do admire her for her actions.

Fast forward two generations later, I completed my degree effortlessly in Australia, as it is quite the norm for women in this modern time to hold degrees. I found an interest in economics, which led to my natural major into marketing. In the process of doing so, I questioned my Asian values and conflicting Western mindset (while in Australia). It is, indeed tough for Asian women to play up to the westernised image of Angelia Jolie and other strong western women featured in our modern pop culture, like Lady Gaga and Britney Spears.

The confidence and happy free spirited nature of Australian women inspired me to be less reserved, to be more expressive. For a long time, I felt suppressed. It was in Australia I found my freedom of expression, my freedom of thoughts. From a lone introvert, I became an outgoing carefree person. I regained a lost part of myself, that my own culture tried to destroy, crucially – it was my femininity.

The greatest key to a woman’s femininity, is her sexuality, which Risque will explain in episode 14. It is a pity, most women do not ever discover this missing essence of themselves. They try to become more masculine in the world place, to achieve the same things men can do, in the process, destroying their feminine power.

In Tango, a woman can never ask for a dance. The male approaches the woman, and offers to lead her. She can choose to accept or reject him. In real life, this is not the case. The modern day woman wants to lead, and in the process, demasculinise the male. From my observations, I meet the most manly-men in Tango, compared to other social dances, the very reason being that, they are given a chance to be a -man- in this dance.

Now that the conflict is carefully spelt out. Let the battles begin.

Cheryl’s World Without Money – TSQ 11

Cheryl talks about a world without money.

Cheryl apparently loves kids, hence she would love to create a beautiful future for her family, by beautifying the world with her art. She thinks that there should not be money in this world, as there is enough food and houses, and that every person should have access to education and healthcare. She hopes for wars to stop. Her views are leaning towards the liberal Democrats.

Creating a beautiful future

Risque The Office Dominatrix – Proposal

Risque, the Director of The Scarlet Entreprises makes a business proposal to The Dark Knight. She talks about how she likes people at the top and will crush anyone in the bottom to get her way.

Risque Business Proposal Risque: “I will fucking crush you if you are a weak minion, bitch.”

Question: Are you a Risque at work? You are hot!
Me: Erm…. I could be if I want to, but I am not exactly power hungry. I prefer to get things done at the bottom line. I do have a score on the High D on the Dominance scale of DISC Profiling. I do have a natural inclination for leadership positions. Unlike Risque, I am rather welfare orientated and good natured (like a mummy). My colleagues can testify for this! I had never crushed anyone at work! I swear.

In reflection of the character Risque, she is someone you would see in the Devil wears Prada, or a supercharged high powered executive woman in the work place. Most women are afraid to play their part to be “dominant” in the workplace, as it is traditionally male dominated, while women are like submissive secretaries. There are some things that women can learn from Risque, on how to be an assertive confident woman who will take action to get things done.

In this video, the author of The Corporate Dominatrix gives some tips to women in the workplace who would find role playing easier to climb up the corporate ladder, especially when they want to go to the top…

Cheryl’s Phantom Nightmares – Day 8

Cheryl has been getting strange nightmares recently.. and she found the black mask on her bed. She is unsure how it got there….

Cheryl’s Fan Mail

Cheryl: Thank you for your kind compliments. Erm…. I doing the videos alone at the moment. I am doing my art full time, I am a full time artist. I paint, draw and write poetry. I am not working with any production company. I am not sure if I am good enough.. yup.

Risque Crushes The White Knight – TSQ 7

Risque the dominatrix crushes The White Knight, to her, there are only men and slaves. She believes he is a a weak minion. She reveals that she likes The Dark Knight, and will talk about him in the next episode.

Risque’s Fan Mail:

Should she do a favour for him and crush him too? She doesn’t mind slaves to volunteer for her usage, in fact, she welcomes it. She loves to tease and conquer. If you want to be used by Risque, all you have to do is leave some comments on her YouTube videos… on what you would like to see her do next. She will be sure to reward you.

Cheryl’s Mother, Christine Plays The Piano

Cheryl’s mother is a classically trained pianist, who used to be a piano teacher. In this video, she plays the piano on stage for a charity event.

Host: “She gives vocal and choir lessons, was invited to conduct a children’s choir at the president charity event, and is always in demand for her piano instructional lessons. All this is done for the love of music.”

Day 6, My Feelings on Making The Scarlet Queen

Honestly, I am very tired at this stage of the production. I am losing sleep over my quest for perfection. I could barely sleep more than 4 hours at a stretch, before waking up to work feverishly on the videos, to rewatch the videos, revise the script, practice. repeat. I am… exhausted. My health is deteriorating. I am, compromising my lifestyle to perform at this extreme level.

Why… you ask. The Scarlet Queen video series is something I had wanted to do since early this year. I wanted to try video blogging, to learn the art of using new media to communicate my art to the audience. I felt limited by a virtual writing blog space, and I think the time is ready now for a new medium – of videos – to communicate my stories. As I no longer work with photographers to do modelling projects as previously… I am considered in the not desired weight zone. I had built my body differently, I built it for strength, to have a dancer body, not for modelling.

When I was modelling actively, I did not eat much, truth to be told. I was constantly hungry, and had low energy levels. I slept mostly. Now, I have more energy, I eat three meals a day, loaded with protein, initially I was filled with hyper amounts of energy embarking on this ambitious one video a day for hundred days. Now, I am withering in self defeat. I cannot go on filming one video per day as different characters, everyday. I have to film three videos in one setting, so I only have to do filming for two days, and I can rest the next four days.

I felt that if I do not do this video project, I will not be happy, because I am suppressing my ideas for the personalities I want to convey. I have been actively imagining my characters (Cheryl and Risque) obsessively for two months before I started. I would act as them consciously/subconsciously to practice. They haunt me in my dreams, and tell me to let them free… they… want to… perform. Finally, I gave in to their request early this week. I am finally at content, at ease. I feel happy waking up each day, with a new project at hand.

I am learning to not be concerned with the end result (if people will like the videos) and to just focus on the process (of creating the videos artistically) especially on the content of their dialogue, which will get more interesting… towards episode ten. I have to make it a point to detach myself from perfection, and treat this project like a playtime, like a child’s play. Ever noticed how children play? They learn happily, they don’t need anyone to tell them how to play. They invent their own games with their imagination. That is… now I would like to play… towards this project.
